Last-mile delivery to district hospitals: lessons from the field
Winning a supply contract is only half the job. Delivering on time to remote district facilities — with complete documentation — is where contracts are actually honoured or lost. The last mile is the hardest mile.
Plan routes before you dispatch
Remote and tribal-belt routes can be affected by monsoon access and limited storage at the receiving facility. Designing a district-by-district schedule with contingency routing prevents delays that paperwork alone can't fix.
Documentation is part of delivery
Delivery challans, GRN acknowledgements, and test certificates must travel with the goods. A delivery without clean documentation is an incomplete delivery in the eyes of the department.
Staging depots closer to clusters of facilities dramatically reduce last-mile failures on rural alignments.
